About Dr. G. Landry

In  1970 God called me to reach out. It all started with one woman who had

Breast Cancer.  Back then there wasn’t a lot of education or other services for

women of color.   It was then that  WNCP Women’s Network For Cancer

                    Prevention was birthed.

This network  gave women an opportunity to be connected to services that they were so desperately in need of and in otherwise would not have received.

In the middle of providing workshops, referrals and preventive measures I found that several women had become homeless. Their reasons varied from losing their residency due to high medical costs , to their spouse leaving due to the inability of to cope with the stress of watching a love one diminish.

From there HHH Helpers for the Homeless and Hungry was birthed. In 1972 the first home was opened to help meet the needs of homeless women who were struggling and battling cancer. It continued to grow far beyond what I had ever expected. While I was helping sick women, there came women with their children who were victims of Domestic Violence who had to flee with no place to go. Often times the police would call and ask if I had room. I never turned anyone down. I always made room.

Then one cold November day God sent two men who knocked on the door and said they were hungry and did I have anything they could eat. From there HHH Hot Meal Program began.  God supplied a kitchen to prepare the meals and many people sat and enjoyed a hot home cooked meal. This grew to feeding over one hundred persons a day  including women, children and men.

Next program came out of the need of the community wanting to know more information about sick women living on the streets. From there Catch THE Vision TV Program began. It was a thirty minute talk show giving updates on issues as it related to those living on the streets.

While the center was providing services daily such as hot meals, counseling, hot showers, clean clothing, groceries to the poor, job readiness and job training. God was still calling me to the streets. Out of that need Caregiversspeaks began. This program is in full operation at present time. It started assisting senior citizens who were homeless and had no one to care for them while trying to survive living on the streets of many communities. It has broaden the scopes far beyond seniors while assisting all persons trying to survive living on the streets including children. Today we have assisted over five hundred thousand individuals by providing basic necessities such as prayer, food, clothing and shelter.

As one of our annual fundraisers A Day Of Love And Laughter is held every third Saturday in February. This event provides an opportunity for you to reach out and "Touch a Life.'
